Goth makeup
Gothic makeup is defined by the pale deathly pallor and dark shadows around the eyes. Jewel toned colors; purple, brown, blue and deep shades of red are also used. The lips are usually painted very bright. The shadows on the eyes are also designed in many shapes, curly cues and sharp points on the edges and sometimes even designs, the most common being bats and other Goth symbols.
The most important thing is the pale base which makes the wearer looks a few shades paler than normal. The dark shades are then used on this base. The eyes are done in such a way that they get the smoky look. The hair is usually dyed black and crimped and combed to the back. The famous Goth icon, Theda Bara had her hair curled and used a dark eye shadow and eyeliner that gave her eyes a mournful look. The whole point is to give the person wearing the makeup a very dark and mysterious look. Nail colors are also always dark.
