Goth Punk

Goth punk or gothic punk is a form of gothic subculture that can be literally viewed as a mix of Goth and hardcore punk, with a lot of self fashion involved. It is characterized by dark and zombified appearance, teased hair, ripped t-shirts, leather pants, bleached jeans and such similar form of outfits.

Goth punk is more widely known in its manifestation on music. The fashion part of gothic punk actually derived from the mood generated by this kind of music. Themes in Goth punk ranges from death, sorrow, despair and surrealism to dark fantasy, romanticism and effects of psychological trauma.

The music allegedly started somewhere around the 70's with the Deathrockers or Dead Punks, which can include bands like TSOL, UK Decay, The damned, 45 Grave and their likes. Bands like the Siouxsie & the Banshees from the UK, and Christian Death from L.A. created a dark punk that defied the anarcho punks of the UK and the American hardcore punks. The songs usually have dark lyrics and optionally added keyboard/symphonic sounds.
