Goth Scene
Goth scene essentially refers to the general form and development of the Goth subculture in a part of the world. Different parts have different scenes during each passing periods of time. For example the Toronto Goth scene has distinct origin and form as compared to other scenes like those in UK or Germany.
Originally known as the "freaks", the term "Goth" came only around 1988 in the Toronto scene. The Goth scene was however recognised much earlier in the European countries and the Goth rock bands had a huge impact in the life of many young kids. From the 1970's bands like UK Decay, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Virgin Prunes, etc. started the Goth scene in Europe. Somewhere in the 80's, even as Goth scene became more popular in Europe, it was also seen in the United States. Bands like Cleopatra Records released more music in the United States during this time.
The growth of Goth scene in the US was seen primarily in the Orange County, New York, Los Angeles and California. The 90's also saw the emergence of American bands like the Projekt Records, which made music which came to be known as ethereal wave.
